Newsletter Number: 328 January 2010

Dear Members

Happy New Year to you all.

Hopefully most of you are now able to get out of your drives/lanes/streets or even villages!  and have managed to get to the shops and collected your bread and milk!

Treasure Island 21st - 30th Jan 2010.
As I write this newsletter - the cast and back-stagers, the costume department, the musicians, the technical crew and all involved in the production  are preparing for the technical and dress rehearsals on Sunday prior to the final run-up to the production.

As you can imagine the weather has not made things easy for the past few weeks and thanks must go to every-one for doing their best to get to rehearsals  - special thanks go to our ’transport’ group in their 4x4’s who ferried so many of us to the village hall in spite of  the snow, ice and freezing fog - Chris Lythe and Niki Payne and other 4x4 owners  made sure that we were all able to get to and from the hall safely. A big thank you to them.

Not content with coping with the weather conditions, one night the rehearsal ended in darkness due to a sudden power cut! I think the director began to wonder what would happen next.  ….but Jeannie feels that in spite of all the problems, the young cast are doing a wonderful job. And we will have another splendid Ewhurst Pantomime.

We would also like to thank Philip Gardner, a new member, who kindly stepped in at the last minute and painted a wonderful scene for the pantomime.
Thanks also to James Foley, who has come in as a back-stager, fully qualified, at the last moment.
And a special thank you to Di Day who has kindly battled her way through the snow to provide much needed tea, coffee and biscuits for all the rehearsals.

Tickets are going well,so if you have not already booked your seats please do contact Liz Foley on 01483 275965  as soon as possible.

Please remember that helpers and friends will not be able to stand at the back to watch the show - they must purchase a ticket (Health and Safety Rules).

One thing this weather has done is to make us all realise that 4x4’s are actually very useful!! We love them really!
